Many paranormal investigators invest in EMF (Electromagnetic) Meters.  EMF meters are generally used by Electricians to measure the amount of electromagnetic fields emitted by electricity to keep people safe.  Paranormal Investigators use these to help determine if a home or business has faulty wiring, electrical devices, or if there is an entity attempting to manifest or communicate with the living.  There is a theory that ghosts can manipulate EMF to help themselves to make contact in many ways.
